SOME OTHER SPECIAL ASPECTS

  • Extraordinarily vibrant town with special Renaissance events occurring during rehearsal period: Palio dei Terzieri  Renaissance Festival which culminates in a grand parade with hundreds of citizens from the 3 neighborhoods in CItta’ della Pieve dressed up in authentic Renaissance garb, as well as a huge flour fight which has flour thrown by townsfolk from the 3 competing neighborhoods dressed in Renaissance costume as well as those stationed on towers with movable canons constructed on them by citizens of the various neighborhoods as well as an archery competition – all 5 days before our opera premiere.

Pietro Perugino, the most famous Italian painter before DaVinci & Michelangelo was born in our town:  Paintings of Pietro Vannucci, knwon as Perugino are here as well as in The Sistine Chapel, The Louvre & museums & churches throughout Italy & the world

The Kossuth Museum is here–  where you can see the sculptures of Wolfgang Alexander Kossuth, former conductor at LaScala who gave up music to create incredible sculptures. He loved Citta’ della Pieve and moved there to create his art. When he died, his wife brought his works from all over Europe to our town to fill a museum there.
